Home Builders Foundation Awards $15,500 in Scholarships & Tool Stipends

The Home Builders Foundation, the charitable arm of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Western Massachusetts, is pleased to announce the 2023 winners of their $1,000 Member Scholarship Awards:  John Fitzpatrick, son of Mark & Margaret Fitzpatrick – Fitzpatrick Painting; Ella Flanders, daughter of Heidi & John Flanders – Integrity Development & Construction; Michael Nevins, son of Tracy & Paul Nevins – Laplante Construction; Grace Ann Rich, daughter of Justin & Jennifer Rich – Heyes Forest Products; Gia Sellica, daughter of Charlene Clark – CT Lighting Centers; Brady Stahelski, son of Brant & Jennifer Stahelski – EWS Plumbing & Heating; Jessica Stimpson, wife of Mario Manzi – Kelly Fradet Lumber; and Lauren Tomala, daughter of Walter & Heather Tomala – TNT General Contracting.    

These annual scholarships are awarded to members of the Home Builders association, their family members, their employees, and the families of an employee.  All applications that are received are voted by blind ballot by a scholarship committee.  The scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, employment history, essay content, and community/charitable endeavors.    

The association is also proud to announce that it has awarded ten $750 Tool Stipends to the following trade school graduates: Corin Senecal from Chicopee Comp High School; Nathan King from Dean Tech; Alastair McClure from Franklin County Tech; Jack Thomas Clarke from Lee High School; Logan Traversa from McCann Vocational Tech High School; Jason Pham from Putnam Vocational Tech; Cayden Payne from Smith Vocational High School; Holly Rose Scarfone from Taconic High School; Pierce Cassavant from Tantasqua Regional Vocational High School; and Deman Bloom from Westfield Vocational High School. 

Guidance counselors from fourteen area vocational and trades schools in the Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire Country area submit their top senior candidate for this annual award.  The association works with each student to purchases tools for them based on their chosen career goal in their respective trade.

To date, the Home Builders Foundation, has awarded over $428,500 in scholarships and awards to deserving students since its inception in 1990.  Our association congratulates all these deserving students and wishes them all the very best in their future careers.
