2019 Edward R. Pedersen Award

2019 Edward R. Pedersen Award
The prestigious Edward R. Pedersen Distinguished Service Award was recently presented to Gisele Gilpatrick of ProTech Water Proofing of Chicopee at the Annual Election & Installation of Officers and Directors in June.

Gisele is the Office Manager and Clerk of Pro-Tech Waterproofing
Solutions Inc., a family business with her brother Gill and father Ron Gilpatrick. She knows the construction field inside and out and has over 36 years of experience in the construction and waterproofing business. Her experience includes being in the field inspecting jobs and she has seen all the various systems being installed such as sump pumps, internal and external drainage systems, foundation crack repairs and various waterproof coatings.

Gisele served as an Associate Director on the Board since July 2013. Last year, she was elected as the Secretary for the 2018/2019 fiscal year, and she is now nominated to be the Third Vice President for the upcoming
2019/2020 fiscal year. Gisele has been a member of the Home Show Committee since 2013 and she has served as the Chairperson for the past two years. She has agreed to continue to serve as the Chairperson for the 2020 show.

The committee felt that Gisele deserved to be presented the Edward R. Pedersen Service Award because of her service to the association as the Secretary of the Board of Directors, as well as her dedication as the Chairperson of the association’s most important income-generating event: the “Original” Western Mass Home & Garden Show. Gisele does not just take on her responsibilities, but she takes them seriously. Despite having knee surgery and unable to physically come to the HBRAWM for a home show committee meeting, she conducted the meeting via Facetime to ensure the success of Home Show 2019. She is a great cheerleader when it comes to the Home Show committee and staff. She is always offering words of encouragement and she is willing to go the extra mile. When needed, she can be counted on to conduct media spots at a drop of a hat to promote the show. This year, when the Home Show needed to have volunteers to stuff thousands of bags with
literature prior to the show, she led a team of volunteers to get the job done, as well as brought a custom Home Show logo-ed cake for the crew to have with their dinner. During the show, despite still recovering from her knee surgery and walking with a cane, she came to the Home Show office several times every day to ensure that the show was running smoothly.

The association is proud to be able to bestow this award to Gisele. She epitomizes the essence of service and the HBRAWM is fortunate to be the lucky recipient of her service and volunteerism.
